Call for Workshops PDF Print E-mail

The COSIT'09 conference committee invites proposals for two specialized workshops. These workshops are intended to provide an opportunity to meet and discuss selected topics on emerging issues related to spatial information theory. The goal of these workshops is to provide an informal forum to discuss important research issues and challenges. We aim to build a program that complements the main COSIT'09 conference. These Workshops will be scheduled the day before the COSIT'09 conference on the 21st of September 2009. There will be around six hours of workshop meeting per day, split into morning and afternoon sessions, with free time between the sessions for ongoing individual exchange. For simplicity, workshops will be held on-site at the main conference site at the Aber Wrac'h. Attendees at workshops must also register for the COSIT'09 conference. For examples of workshops held at previous COSIT conferences, see the archive of previous meetings (http://www.cosit.info/).

Submission Guidelines

Workshop organizers will be responsible for coordinating workshop participation and content (including selecting papers, arranging short informal presentations by domain experts, formulating discussion topics, etc.), moderating the discussion, ensuring they have unambiguous acceptance to attend from any people named as confirmed in the proposal. Workshop organizers should submit by electronic mail the following information to Christophe Claramunt ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ) and Kathleen Stewart Hornsby ( This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it ):

  • Title of the workshop.
  • A brief description of the scientific issues to be discussed.
  • A statement of why the workshop is of interest at this time.
  • Names, e-mails and home pages of the organizer(s). If there is more than one organizer, please designate one organizer as the primary contact.
  • Information about the proposed organizing committee.
  • An estimate of the number of expected participants.

In the case the workshop is one of a series of workshops, the proposal has to demonstrate that this new edition brings some genuine novelty.

Each workshop organizing committee will be responsible for producing a Call for Participation for the workshop, and management of the editorial and publication issues. The COSIT'09 committee will make the Call for Participation available as part of the COSIT'09 web site. Workshops registration forms will be included with the registration material for COSIT'09.

Selection Process

The selection will be done by the COSIT'09 conference committee and the COSIT Steering committee. The selection of workshops will be mainly based on: the relevance of the topics suggested to the interest of COSIT, evidence that the workshop will be focused on emerging fields, evidence that the workshop aims for a dynamic sharing of ideas and not only presenting results. We may recommend the merging of multiple overlapping proposals in a particular area.
